Allow Nature to Teach You Stillness
"Look at a tree, a flower, a plant. Let your awareness rest upon it. How still they are, how deeply rooted in Being. Allow nature to teach you stillness.”
~ Eckhart Tolle
This past weekend I had the pleasure of spending an inspiring few hours with a lovely group of talented women for a Botanical Watercolor workshop coinciding with my exhibit at
I shared my studio process and preferred materials, then guided by careful observation and a sense of quiet curiosity, we sketched and painted fresh seasonal blooms using pencil and watercolor.
Word is that everyone enjoyed the opportunity to slow down, notice the small details of nature, and enjoy the creative process. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of creativity and the beautiful paintings that ensued. I truly appreciate everyone sharing their time and attention with me and for the generous hospitality of Zach Gallery.
Focusing on the present moment and taking the time to “BE” with one flower, one petal, one leaf…
Each participant happily left with their own watercolor palette on an antique plate ~ my hope is to encourage an ongoing art practice.
With an abundance of seasonal blooms as inspiration, the serene and light filled Zach Gallery was the ideal space to relax and slow down on a brisk Spring morning.
After the frantic pace of the last few months of show preparation it feels so good to be home and back in my comfortable routines. I’ve been gently decompressing and letting new ideas percolate, visiting the garden center to soak in the scent of “green” and of course bringing home a few seasonal blooms. I’ve had more time to spend in my own garden and with the occasional warm and sunny day I have been noticing tiny green shoots emerging. It is tempting to start uncovering the new sprouts from the blanket of winter leaves but I’m exercising restraint and allowing the fragile shoots to gather their strength and emerge in Mother Nature’s perfect timing. I am just watching, noticing, and gathering inspiration, for what I expect will be a fruitful season ahead.
An abundance of fresh seasonal flowers on my drawing table make for a constant source of inspiration.

The simplicity of one petal contains a world of inspiration and possibility.
Starting small with new ideas… allowing a new series to unfold at its own pace.

COMMON THREAD: Quiet Rhythms of Land and Lineage
On View Through April 18th. If you are unable to attend but would like a tour of the exhibit via video please get in touch ~ erindanielsart@gmail.com
Though distinct in medium and visual language, these three bodies of works follow a common thread of devotion to the quiet rhythms of land and lineage. Hand-stitched textiles, atmospheric paintings, and exquisitely detailed botanicals each emerge from slow, deliberate acts of making that resist urgency and invite contemplation.
Together these works speak to art as a meditative act, one that gently stitches past to present, inner life to outer landscape.
